The Sclerotherapy treatment involves the injection of special sclerosing agents into the vein, followed by compression provided by support tights.
Spider veins usually take on one of three basic patterns. They may appear in a true spider shape with a group of veins radiating outward from a dark central point; they may be treelike and will resemble tiny branch-like shapes; or they may be simple linear and appear as thin separate lines.
Sclerotherapy is very effective for treating large areas and people can return to work the same day. A few treatments may be required before all the surface veins disappear.
The treated veins may look worse for a few weeks before fading away.
So it is best to have the treatments done a few months before a long planned holiday or other special occasion.
